Hello All,

I recently picked up a '99 Grand Prix GT with about 203K to use as a winter beater. I found it at a small dealership in Omaha that wanted to move it, so I gave them $500 cash and walked away with it. I've had it for about a month now, and it's gone from a cheap winter beater that wouldn't get anything beyond regular maintenance to a full-fledged project car. So far I've added a better head unit (I got it with a cheap Pioneer and replaced it with a slightly better Sony, with plans to eventually upgrade to a DIN unit with a slide-out touchscreen), better subwoofer wiring (don't have the subwoofer yet but it came with cheap Scosche wiring and I had better wiring from an old car), a HUD, halo headlights, LED interior/gauge cluster lighting, heated leather seats from an '05 GP, gauge needles out of an '05, and GTP leather door panels. My hope is to grab a top end off of a supercharged 3800 and do a top swap when warmer weather rolls around and I can get back to daily driving the BMW again. I imagine with over 200K on the odometer it might be a bit of a risky mod, but the engine and transmission both seem to be relatively healthy, and if things go wrong the local pick-and-pull lots have a wealth of cars with 3800s in them, so I figure it won't be difficult to have the car back up and running again if things go south. I have a few other mods in mind as well (ZZP powerlog and a 3" catless downpipe that a friend of mine with a Regal GS has but doesn't plan on using), and I want to get some body work done to clean up some of the rust on it as well. I have to say, for $500, I'm totally happy with the car so far. This forum has been a great resource for me, so many of the threads on this site have helped with all of the retrofits I've undertaken on the car so far.
