Hello All. First off, thanks everyone for participating in a grand prix(etc..) specific forum. I've putzed around these forums here and there over the past few months trying to find out information about a grand prix I've gotten my hands on.

It's a 1992 Richard Petty Edition Grand Prix, 3.4L with the Getrag 5sp about 105,000Miles on the odometer and I was told the engine was replaced once. From what I've found there seems to be limited information out there about this specific model. I've been able to learn a good bit here and elsewhere though.

It's a pretty cool car, but wasn't/isn't in the greatest of shape when I got it. The last inspection sticker on the window is from 99' and information from the owner was very very limited. Supposedly he stopped driving it because the transmission linkage kept coming loose and I guess he wasn't the most mechanically inclined. I got the car late in 2016. Supposedly it had been moved around in the driveway a few times, but otherwise It pretty much had been sitting for 15 years by my guess. Unfortunately it sat outside in the driveway most of that time and the body shows it. It wasn't running at all when I first got it so I pulled it over to the house and got to work. All it really took was a new fuel pump and filter, cleaning the heck out of the tank, and the fuel injectors were literally clogged/stuck shut so I cleaned them. Changed the fluids and she cranked pretty much right up once it got fuel.

I've probably put $1000-1500($600 tires...) in parts in it over the past few months. All new brake rotors and pads and a few other things. It's been a pretty fun little car to drive around but it certainly still has a few kinks to be worked out. It quit charging the other day and I haven't had a chance to get to it yet. I'm really hoping the alternator hasn't failed because I hear it's a pretty big PITA to swap.

I was originally planning to keep the car hence spending the amount of money I did. Unfortunately other projects have grasped my attention and I can't decide if I want to sell the car or what. Not exactly easy to get my money back on this car as is. I have it listed on craigslist locally for $2000 with little interest. It just doesn't seem like anyone knows what this car is. Any thoughts on selling? I've even considered parting it out to you guys.

I do have one question which I will soon search for, but if anyone wants to answer in the mean time. How many posts do I need to make to be able to post in the for sale forum?

    First off Welcome to GPF.
I would suggest that you just post the link to your Craigslist ad that you're running.

Hey LEVELX, I lived out in CO for a while never made it up to WY but man its beautiful out there.

Here's the craigslist link https://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/6061277021.html You'll be able to see a few pictures and more details of what work I've done to it. It does not reflect the recent charging problem yet.

I wouldn't consider this an official for sale thread but hopefully the link is still helpful.

Car's kinda cool. Have you considered a Compnine VIN check to see what exactly ya got there? Could help move it along, never know.

It's like $5 and you need a valid email.

Doh! I actually had to google that. I must admit I don't know a whole lot about Richard Petty despite the username.
I will post in the FS forum once I've made enough posts and make a cleaner thread specifically for it.

I've never head of that before, could come in handy. I have a pretty good understanding of what exactly the car is. It's a 92 GP SE of which 1000 were converted to the Richard Petty Edition. The only difference is the Richard Petty has some body pieces changed, special color matched lace wheels, and the RP badges inside and out. Otherwise it's the exact same engine/trans(5sp or auto) and other parts. There may be something I don't know.

Who knows I may just keep it if no one ever makes an offer. It is nice to have a comfortable car with a quiet interior, comfortable, decent mileage vs power, and hopefully soon A/C. Compared to my 88' Chevy van which is loud, gets 9-12mpg, and no A/C. I just need to get around to fixing it's most recent charging problem, right after I work on everything else...
