    Hi guys I just recently installed some r1 concept drilled & slotted rotors/pads as well as some powerstop calipers, and I been hearing a horrible squeal ever since, I think that might just be the pads not sitting right and the little pin that indicates wear is scraping against the rotor, but my bigger concern is that I bled the brakes twice and I really need to dig deep in the pedal for it to show any kind of braking power. Any ideas what it could be?

    Take Em off and see if there's any wear marks on the retention clips (rubbing)...

    Did you bed the pads correctly? Sometimes you might get some squelling at first until they're bedded, and you won't get good grip/brakes until then either. Gotta take a few runs, 40-60mph, brake hard, but DO NOT STOP... Do it 4-5 times... Another10 miles or so regular driving and they should be good.

    wheres the bleeders located? top or bottom of the calipers?

    if they are on the bottom side you need to swap the sides the calipers are on, you got em on wrong.

    no way the squealers should be touching on new pads.

    The front calipers have the bleeder at the top for both left/right . Also when the car is off and I pump the brakes they get stiffer and stiffer until I cant step on the pedals no more. But once the car is turned back on they go back to me needing to floor the pedal.
    Wont be able to take a look at em till the Saturday coming up.

    sounds like you let air in the master. pump the pedal like you would to bleed a caliper, then crack a line nut off the master, use the nut as a bleeder valve, break it free first, snug it, then have someone pump the pedal, then crack it, if theres air, you'll hear it. repeat till no more air, and then to the other line. then re bleed all the calipers.

    not likely, when those go bad the pedal goes rock hard, like the engine is off and you pumped the air out the booster rock hard.


    air in the master will seem to bleed out ok, then turn to mush like your saying.

    Alright, thanks, also you said the squeaking noise should not be from the squealers, should breaking them in solve that?
    Sounds absolutely horrible from 5 MPH and higher.

    if you didnt get a good bite on them when breaking them in, maybe it could be done again. most of use do get smoke off or pads when doing this. and smell them as well.

    the air in the master if its there is could also be causing the brakes to squeak as well.

    I haven't even tried breaking them in yet just due to me barely getting bite with the pedal. I'll break them in once I get all the air out. The squealing also seems to just be coming from the rear.

    oh, they feel like they have gravel between the pads and rotors till broken in, thats why the squeak.

    UPDATE: Went ahead and did it today. Bled the entire brake system, got pressure back in my pedals. Friend came over to help me bleed it, asked me what's up with my abs light. Told him it was the module, long story short ended up taking off the calipers and the scratching was because the squealer bent and was grinding against the rotor, fixed that all noise free, he checked my wiring and fixed my abs as well, saved me $100 , just got done breaking in the brakes lol. Brakes are smoking, smells like $h1t, and the rotors have some weird darkish bluish color on em, now waiting about 30 mins for em to cool off and afterwards heading towards the buffet.

    Although when I was breaking in the brakes instead of squealing I heard grinding now. Dunno if thats normal or what.

    bedding them in is nasty business. you'll be fine. just be light on them for a little while. once they cool off watch your teeth on the steering wheel lol they might bite real hard and catch you off guard.

    paper that came with mine said to take it easy over the first 500 miles.

    im still waiting for his reaction. i let two people drive my car off with cold brakes, both were like are you f ing kidding me. both i told to just let the car roll 3 feet in drive, then stop. both had the wtf? look lol

    UPDATE: Day 1, was not really impressed by the bite/power. Wondering maybe if its the lines or I screwed up breaking them in.

    Day 2: I now have a dentist appointment.



    No but really, wasn't expecting the brakes to bite that hard only after a day xD, these get better and better. A bit scared of getting rear ended now :l
