New member about to be an owner of a 2005 Grand Prix base.

Hello every one. I have already started learning from you guys.

I have a few issues that seem common to this car.

    rack-pinion leaking around rubber boot.
Oil pan looks like it is leaking
    Throwing P0420 code.

I will wait to see if the Rack is leaking seriously before replacing/repairing.
    Same with Oil pan,

I would like to go cat less and tune to remove the code

A lot of times the oil pan gasket leaks. It can be a pain to replace due to where its located. The P0420 code is either the O2 sensor or Cat.

    Also welcome to the site.

oil pan should not be leaking on that year. the rear cover or crank seal can leak. or if your lucky its a valve cover leak trailing to the pan.

the rack is dead if the boot is leaking, best to just change it asap and get an alignment, check the front end over and replace anything that needs to be changed.

Agreed. I drove on a bad one in these and when it failed, it was pretty white-knuckle to pull off the highway.

    Welcome.
