Move this post if it doesn't belong in this section, but today I noticed a pure white smoke and smelled like burning oil coming from somewhere around the 3rd piston spark plug area, I can't pin point where it's at and I know this car has been recalled a few times, and I wondering if it's possible to take it to get it fixed, because shes never been to a single recall. Its a White 2001 Grand Prix GT.

They do only cost like 20 bucks for the gasket and gromments, takes an hour start to finish if you decent with a wrench.

But atleast degrease the area before it starts the car on fire and you have no car.

if its the front valve cover theres a new recall for it, they replace the cover and gasket. its free. they dont do the rear one.

if its the back on, take the cover off, clean up the top of the head and the gasket, then put a smear of rtv on the top of the head and put the cover and old gasket back on.

only snug the valve cover bolts or you can snap them pretty easy.

any local GM dealer. best to call them and set up an appointment, its not like a drive in oil change joint. have your vin number in hand, im sure they will ask for it.

As an FYI is has to be a GM dealer and not any of their brands. Tried having a Chevy dealer across the street do my 99's recall and they sent me 20 minutes away.

theres really no such thing any more. at least here they are all groups. GMC chevy buick and caddy all under one roof. with some other off brand you'd never buy lol

theres a few GMC Isuzu dealers that also sell just gmc/isuzu trucks and suvs. but they been around forever.

    Not without a tune.

Besides you don't need to go over 100mph, takes a million years just to reach that speed.

Well my friend is going to a drag strip this weekend and im tagging along and his cumstain has a higher speed governor, and I beat him on a small straight stretch but obviously the track is going to be longer. I just don't want to lose because of a dumb governer keeping me from going faster
