I'm a newbie here, but been w/ RegalGS.org a while and noticed a lot of "sharing going on" so I wished I could get in on the info action of those of you here, as well as on Ragal.org, and get good info from those who've been there, done that.
I'm no newbie to cars, engines and building fabbing on many varieties of cars, but long and short, this is my 2nd S/C build. It started in 89 with a T-Bird S/C. Of course this car was traded well before my son could drive, and life, kids and marriage happened. I had one, she had two, so suddenly a family of 5. This being said, I had traded the SC on a 4-Runner for commute reasons, I later traded my Omni (Slightly modded, but nasty 4 banger) on a beautiful Olds Cutlass Supreme SL. The idea was and started, that since it was passed to my son Ethan (the car and attitude), and my entire family (even grandma an me mum) were total race freaks. We were going to essentially make the Cutlass a sleeper with the early S/C engine and do some extreme suspension "true Gran Touring" mods, just as I am now to my 2000 Regal. Sad part, he was brutally murdered in 2004 in a home invasion and the worse part, it was 3 minutes from my home so I got injected into the whole thing very quickly.
So, life happened again and after a year, I had to sell the car. I thought of buying another in drop top style and going at it, but the "Cutlass part and the brightest GM red" were a little to close to heart/home to deal with.
So, after I saw my first 3rd gen Regal and then drove a stage 3 GSX, I kinda felt I wanted to do the build with Ethan's (my sons) memory in heart, but take a Regal (ordinarily associated w/ Grandpa), make it super sleeper fast, but give just enough aesthetics to make it look a little more sporty than the GSX. Put the Holley touches to it w/ a total suspension re-build and set it up for a "hopeful" low 13 second car and as well, a SCCA Street Prepared Sedan class. So, Hello again, Gladly share the cars story, as it gets built and will appreciate any help over here possible. Much of the beginning "build to date photos" are on RegalGS, but I'm barley 1/4 the way through. I'm hoping either my business (Residential, Light Commercial Design) pics up even a little, or one of a few job possibilities come through so I can get most if not all the major build done this winter. I'm due for some luck I hope.
I'm in the Indianapolis area, so any other members near by, introduce and friend me, I'm always up for helping out and can often use a little myself. I got lucky after a while on a couple other W-Body related forums to meet a few locals and being raised as I was, as well around these cars, sharing help, meeting new friends and having fun is what it's all about isn't it?
I've already found my inter cooler here, thanks to Scottydog over at RegalGS.
I'll update and finish my profile soon w/ all info, but having mentioned building and working with cars, I'll see if i can share a few later.
