Wanna sell me that scan master Shawn? How much did ya pick it up for or did ya buy it new?
Hell no I ain't selling it, I love it too much!!! LOL!
Seriously though, I can't remember how much I picked it up for, I got it back in late 2002 or so. I believe it was around $300 back then. Here it is on 3800 Performance for about $320... RamChargers L67 Scanmaster: 3800 Performance
I also have one in my Black GTP, I got it used off ClubGP about 3 years ago for like $175. Works great too, I wish they made them for every car!
Ramchargers Scanmaster kicks ass period! They've made them for the Grand Nationals for many years, along with the SY/TY guys, LS1s, and of course the L67s. In fact I knew a guy a few years ago with a Grand National and he had a Scanmaster and IIRC he said his was 12 years old with 0 issues. Hell mine is about 7 years old with about 100,000 miles on it with 0 issues. When my car is on, its on. It's been that way in my cluster since day one. No issues with the black cars Scanmaster either.
I honestly believe the Scanmaster is one of the if not the best/most reliable realtime scan gauges out there. After seeing all the issues with other ones out there and never seeing or having a problem with a Scanmaster for many years, I think they hold there own quite well.
I think you should get one Parker, you won't regret it at all. As durable as they are, it will last damn near forever.
Back to topic, I read on a another post that you're going Alky too, are you going with the same kit I got? If so let me know, maybe we can share tuning info? If you do it , you'll be like 1 of 3 or 4 with Alky + an IC. So far besides Chance, some guy FL, and myself there aren't any IC+Alky guys out there. It will be new territory indeed. Let me know how you're install goes...
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
Cool.
Yeah i'm working on the new build right now. Not sure if you've seen the thread. So it will probably be a while. But i did think it may be a better alternative than nitrous. I have never heard of anyone blow there car up because of meth lol....Although i'm sure it can be done...somehow.
I think i will let you test it out and if i like the results...by that time I should be ready... :th_laugh-lol2:
But yeah If I do go that route we can def share some files and experience.
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
They might have changed the way you have to wire the controller up, but it was some sequence that you had to do in order to get the ready light to come on. When the kit is armed, the red power light should stay on.

Update: 1/25/09...
Sunday afternoon I finally got my Alky Kit completed. Thanks to Chance for the help , plus letting me grab some DO Brew (50/50 mix Alky/Water) on off business hours. I figured I might as well go this route I mean he's local to me, no need for me to mix, and he's always been good to me over the years. I consider him a good friend/business man.
Anyway, before filling the reservior I pulled off the tube from it, and pulled the tube from the nozzle off and got a catch can. From there I got me a good clean cup, filled it with DO Brew, and put the tube from the washer tank into the cup. I then applied direct power to the pump to cycle it. I did this to ensure that there was no trash (dirt, hose pieces, etc) that could of somehow got trapped in the lines/pump (even though I was clean and careful, **** happens) and I wanted to be absolutely sure I had no nozzle clogging issues. This doesn't need to be done, but I did it because it only took 5 minutes to do this to be absolutely sure. What the hell, right? Sorry, no pictures of this procedure. I think I explained it well enough though, if not, ask me and i'll help you out.
Anyway, after all that I reassembled the front bumper, headlights, etc and tied up any loose ends left to do. Pulled my plugs and gapped them down from .050 to .045 and I filled the system with brew and made sure everything was working properly, which it was. Here are some meaningless pics from my evening....

And my controller armed and ready to roll...

BTW, there is no running procedure to make this think work, it works right out of the box. If you wire it up correctly and make sure you have a GOOD contact point on your MAP sensor wire, you'll be good to go.
Since it was late and I needed to clean up and get to bed I only got to play with the Kit for about 30-45 minutes last night. I've been in need of a retune for awhile now, but i've held off since I knew I was going to be adding Alky to my setup. Anyway, with the exact tune the first WOT run I got 4-5 degrees of KR, and my AFR was about 10.5. I wasn't in it long when I saw the KR. It was running quite a bit richer than before the alky, which was to be expected. Before my AFR was around 11.5. Luckily for me I have an ICCU I leaned out the fuel gradually. Did about 3 more WOT runs. I finally got 0 Degrees KR, 11.5 AFR through 3rd gear (I got a spike on the shift which was false, most likely from the hard shift and solid/poly mounts). Very impressive IMO, considering I did a 20 min half ass fuel tuning with my ICCU. This all on a 3.0", about 17-18 degrees timing, 91 octane. DO unit turn on point is at 5 and max at 8 for the progression.
Did I feel a difference? IMO, yes I did and I was very impressed! I'm very skeptical about things too. I don't notice mods much either, the only real mods I really noticed was the Full Sized IC and the trans (because of the 3.29s and 3000 stall). I figured I noticed the difference mostly because I was getting full timing advance because of no KR. I've been getting 3-4 lately because of the weather. Otherwise i'm usually at 0 KR., especially in the Spring/Summer months oddly enough.
I have ALOT more work/tuning to do to get this car just right. So far though i'm happy and I recommend this mod to everyone. I just wish I did it sooner! Hopefully in the future I can play with pullies and timing. For now though, work has got me pre-occupied for a bit.
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
Nice Shawn.
Man this thread makes me miss my old GTP.
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
Yeah, shoulda kept it. The good ol' days in Tulsa were sure fun, weren't they?
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
any update on the tuning iron indian? what afr are you getting via wideband with the alky/meth and with what pulley and timing?
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
I haven't really had the chance to mess with it as much as i'd like to but...
I'm currently running 2.9", 11.5-11.7 AFR, 18 degrees of timing, 50/50 Meth/Water, and 0 KR at the moment...
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
hah, with straight meth my AFR goes straight to the low 11s when i get on it. i need to tune.
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
hmm currently running 70% meth to water and i have it turned on at 8.5psi to full spray and the afr is roughly 10.2-10.3. running the 3.1" pulley with 21-22* and tapers to 18* a tthe shifts(i did it that way). just getting a feel on what you guys are running with afr or if it really varies from car to car on what afr it can actually run with out knock/detonation.

I think your AFR is killing you honestly. Low 10s is pig rich. You should probably be in the mid 11s
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
Nice writeup! I will be printing this off when i get my kit in to install.
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
if you have any questions let me know, i'd be glad to help.
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
So even with an intercooler you feel a difference with the alky injection???
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
is anyone running a setup like this?
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
intercooler with alky you mean?
Re: Devilsown Stage 2 Progressive Alcohol Injection Install...
ya, and also looking for tuning hints for methanol. I want to do it, but not sure when I will have money for it.
