Lemme guess...you put a white bulb in there?

Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
Ok leds run cooler and draw less voltage so not sure why it would smoke?
Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install

Yes, Great write up. This will be useful since I just acquired white faced gauges for 2002 GP, and also got the carbon fiber gauge bezel for 2001 GP. Plan to install LED's in cluster (in an older GTP that I scrapped, the heat from the OEM 194 bulbs caused problems with the printed circuit on back of gauge cluster, and there was no way to repair).
LED's give off very little heat.
About removing the red film, I am going to attempt to remove the red film on the old gauge cluster to see results.
Going to try different color bulbs also.
Any word from Diode Dynamics when they are releasing more products?
Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
Just shy of 3 months since I installed mine and one of them has gone out.

Very unique design, and they are non-polar, so you don't have to guess and check
(perfect for gauges, which can be annoying to test)

Update on these? I'm interested. I'd like to do LED's.

Nick how is the 360 degree light dispersal from the sides of the HP3?

That's what makes the HP3 special. It does an excellent job dispersing the light evenly

Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
I need to do this, one of my OG lights on the tach went out.
Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
I did mine tonight and it looks AWESOME!! Anybody know the replacement number for the lil lights??
Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
Just ordered the HP3's from DD. We'll see how they do. I'll be sure to upload pics.
Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
If you don't find them bright enough, we also offer the HP5's which are twice as bright as the HP3
Nick C.
Re: 97-03 Cluster Gauge LED Install
Google tells me 194's are about 25 lumens. Hp3's are over double that. Should be plenty bright

Nice. I ordered a back up set of HP3's for myself when these others go out.
