I was asked to make a thread about this.
This is for the bucket seats only, the rear seats will NOT fit!
A - If you can get GP seats for a good price Stop here and just install (way easier)
#1 – This is a lot of work and modification, make sure you are up to it.
#2 – tools needed – Drill and drill bits, something to cut the metal (not tin snips- metal should be thicker – Safety first), a few wrenches, and other misc.
#3 – supplies (per seat) - some flat steel (I used 1/8†thick) 2@ 1 ½†x 2 ½â€, 2@ 1 ½†x 3 ½â€, 6 bolts and nuts (locking), and spacers, I used washers (5 x 4).
#4 – Seats From a Grand Am GT (mine came out of a 2002 GA GT - $100)
Actual work to be done
#5 – the steel needs 2 – 3 holes (see pics(the 3rd bolt is for no movement of the new plates)) the mounts need to be aprox 1 ½†wider.
#6 – For the GA seats you will have to take the bottom seat material and foam up or off to get to the bolts holding the mounting hardware on. The GP seats mounts can be taken off from the bottom. 13mm for both.
#7 – Then assemble the pieces are seen in pics, and install into car.
#8 – Done, unless your like me and Paint them with proper paint and prep cleaner.
The GP seat is cloth.
I took the Top of the bucket seat off but not unnecessary
Now The GP seat - does not need to be taken apart as i did, the bolts are easier to get to than the GA Seats
These next pics show the mods work and fits in the GP
And Now with all the bolts in with all original hardware from the GP
