It's no better than GMs design. But I looks like it is. Metal clip held up a piece of rubber that might weigh a couple ounces and it failed. See those 3 little ears? Thats all that holds it up. I bet it weighs weigh more than the rubber seal before any build up of material gets in it. Plastic gets brittle after weather takes its toll and those little ears hold the weight of that tray plus build up. After dirt and silt builds up in it, maybe some ice in the winter, the tray is going to get a bit heavier. Tray gets heavier, ears get brittle. Snap. Let me know in a few years if it's still in place. Of course, unless you feel like taking apart your cowl every summer to clean it out. If those ears were replaced by 2, solid 3" or so tracks. It would be trustworthy for a lot longer, but.......it would probably cost $3.00 more. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Like I said, I honestly hope it lasts, but doubt it will. For now, I will stick with the one that WILL last for 10+ years for sure. Just trying to save you money and hassle. I have experience with this issue. Probably 100+ cars in the last 7 years. Only a handful or so came back to me and still had the "water in the floorboard". Always turned out to be something else too.
