There's a special harness that keeps all the chimes and all. Only down side is brand new its 100 bucks. I used to have one for my car but already resold it to someone on here. And if u want steering wheel controls to work go to pac audio website

Made by Metra it's part number GMOS-01. The salesman may try to sell you the GMOS-04 because you have the Monsoon system, but that leads to low audio output using the low-level RCA inputs on the module. Just use the GMOS-01 with it's high-level inputs. Works fine in the Grand Prix. It's going to retain your door chimes, keep your retained accessory feature when the car is off, OnStar (if equipped) and also give you the ignition wire you need for an aftermarket headunit (that the factory harness doesn't have). If you care about your steering wheel controls, you'll need Metra part number ASWC. It plugs right into the GMOS-01 and auto-programs, making life pretty damn easy (read the manual, because certain cars require you holding a button to trigger auto-programming). Retail, you're looking at about 200 bucks for both pieces. But you can probably get them for half that online.

To anyone that did this mod, when your phone or mp3 device is connected to the aux jack and also have your charger connected, is there ground loop feedback or does the XM receiver filter it out?

Just tried this...got everything soldered together but all I hear when I go to XM is a crackling noise? I have the right hooked up to the brown, the left hooked up to the green and the copper from each of those into the common.

Here's how I set it up

EDIT: I attached the ground common wire going out and now it seems to be working. But is this the right way?

Edit 2: Also, the sound is interrupted when I plug my phone into a charger while playing music, no sound at all.

so the rca to aux that i got is just the male aux with two wires coming out of it, one to each rca, and when i cut the male rca's there was only one wire in each. so i hooked it up anyways, one to the green and one to the brown/white, and it works and sounds clear but its kind of quiet. not super quiet, its a normal car ride music volume but thats at full blast. i cant get it to like, roll the windows jamming to your favorite song, volume. is this the same for you or what?

solder and shrink tube your connections if it looks the same as the pics of the last set up.

the old twist and tape truly blows.

This topic still alive I've got a question and I've read through I believe I understand everything just a little confused.
Fist I'd prefer to splice behind the radio if I can which I believe is possible from what I've read? I have the 6cd monsoon 2007 gxp
Also the cable I have only has 1 wire in each rca with wire wrapped around it. Is that around it the shield or the ground? Should I just get better cables since those might be junky based on what is in them?

The "shielding" is the ground. It connects to the barrel of the RCA. The center insulated wire is the positive. It connects to the center pin of the RCA.
