I am in the middle of this procedure and I have gotten the tie rods disconnected, end link on the driver side off, brakes off, motor and trans mount nuts off, and I got to the point where Im taking off the bolts for the PS rack and pinion and they are hitting the sway bar... has anyone had this issue? Im sorry if this was addressed but I didnt see it if it was. Also do you have to take both sides loose on the sway bar or just the driver side? Thanks in advance

    Anthony..

No where in the procedure did I say to disconnect tie rods or brakes. That's not needed the way I do this procedure.

Lift up on the outer end of the sway bar and those bolts will slide right past. That's the main reason for disconnecting the endlinks.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Of course I stripped out a torx bit bolt on the cover.... And of course it was the last bolt. Where can I get a replacement for it? Hopefully I can get some easy outs at work today. If not, not sure how else to get it out

Get the next size up and tap it in with a hammer. TAP! Use a ratchet or a breaker bar. No power tools. That's exactly how I did on the last one I had apart. Didn't ruin my socket and I replaced the bolt.

yeah I tried that and didnt work. Now its just a round spot in the middle of the bolt. Im guessing an easy out is my only option at this point. Where did you get the replacment bolt from?

I've torn a couple down so I had extras! I don't see why you couldnt run to a hardware store and get a bolt with matching length and thread pitch. Without a hex at the top.

I can't freakin win with this damn repair. I got the torx bolt out that was stripped and then I get the cover off and the 3 435 bolts all stripped out and now I can't get them out. This freakin sucks!!!

How the hell did you do that? Use 6 point sockets, they grip better. Use some vise grips and you should be able to get them out. I stripped that same bolt on the cover and ended up having to grind off the head to get the cover off.

So I think my trans maybe worse than I thought. I put the new hub in and turned it and the only thing that turned was the new hub and nothing else. Does this mean more is damaged?

Yeah..the piece that usually survives inside is likely stripped. M17davis recently found the same.

For those torx.. I put the socket in..whack it a couple times..then try to turn them. When that fails..a small chisel puts a mark in the bolt..and then you hammer it counter clockwise.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So it turns out my sungear isnt stripped. I pulled everything out until I got the the sungear then fit them together. Must not have been in all the way or something. Is there a trick to putting all this stuff back in now? Also the reverse band... does the round hole go on the black round tab that is sticking up in the bottom and then the cone shaped black piece looks as though it hit the other part of the reverse band. I apologize for my atrocious terminology. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Three of the side cover bolts have the threaded extension on them. What positions do those go in? I can post a picif needed.
