Idk, I'd just hold on to it. I don't think itd be a problem.

It's slippery and I don't want to drilling a hole in my hand. The tube I bought is only 4"

Hey, if you're worried about it just make a small dimple where you want to drill either with a hammer and punch or a small pointy phillips. Just use a small bit at first that grabs onto the dimple you made to avoid having the bit walk. Then go ahead and use a bigger bit to finish her off.
