    Hi all:

I know this is older but is still applicable. I have been searching for days and can't find anything else about this. I have my intake and supercharger off to change the LIM. Doing a little porting/polishing while in there. Question is--how helpful is it to cut out the large section on top of the intake as seen in the pics on pg 3? As in opening the square section all the way up to the round port? Similar to the zzp ported intake.

My car is fairly stock (gen iii blower) for now. I do plan on additional mods but not sure yet what all I will do or when. I am going to do a mild port on the blower as well. Is cutting this much out of the intake going to be helpful in my case? If so, do you also trim/cut out the supercharger gasket in the same area?

If you were to cutout the LIM like that you would need to cut the gasket to match, but you would see no benefit in doing so. The only reason for cutting that section out is if your installing an intercooler, since it adds more surface area for the intercooler core to cool the air. Also make sure your not full blown porting the LIM runners. Deburring and smoothing is fine, but if you open the runners up it won't match up with the heads and will cause a sh*t ton of turbulence and in turn lost power and efficiency.

That is what I was thinking, thank you! I am mostly smoothing/polishing, not doing much porting on the LIM itself. I do want to port a bit on the blower though, but it seems all the info I am finding is conflicting on where and how much to cut out. Anyone have a good guide on porting the supercharger for best results?

If you need anything just ask I'm sure Scotty can pull it out from his archive of photos.
