LOL nice regal by the way. I have a old gasket just no tray I'm not going to be able to find that without buying a whole new aluminum pan.
Most all series 3 motors( iv a few series 2 motors came with the aluminum pan) from u pull yards have the series 3 motors pulled already. So that wouldn't help to much.
Thanks !
When I opened up the 06 l26 there was no gasket. Just grey rtv
Yeah I know that's how there suppose to come from the factory. But the motor i pulled the aluminum pan from was modded and that's how I found it with a old style gasket and tray gone, that's what confused me.. I know it ran so it should be fine with a gasket ya know...
'm tired of working on cars...:th_yawning:
the plastic gasket/windage tray is better than the oem steel tray in the alum pan, if you don't use the built in mount then you can use the plastic gasket. if your using the pan mount and not the horseshoe you must use rtv.
its why I still prefer the steel pans.
well that and having seen two of em die since the alum pans shatter with debris than get dented....kinda hard to hold oil in the sump when the pan is brittle.
Ok Gotcha thanks
if you put a gasket in there, make sure to rtv both sides of the gasket, the engine i got used had a new gasket on the pan and it was leaking. i put another new one in but with rtv on both sides and no leaks.
Right... Rtv between the plastic gasket and aluminum pan surfaces. OK I think that's what Turbo meant as well...
Hey guys I have read alot about this but still am unsure of exactly what I need to do the swap for my 99 grand prix. part numbers would be most helpful. Thanks in advanced.
