Well I did my first tail light tint job by myself on my new 95 GTP since the stockers were looking pretty bad.
1. First I started with a red scuff pad. I went over them really quick just to help with adhesion.
2. Next I used dupicolor adhesion promoter clear primer. I did 3 light coats. Just enough till the lenses looked foggy.
3. Next I sprayed VHT Nightshades on them. You have to get pretty agressive with this if you want them to be really black. So I used about 75 percent of the can on 2 tail lights. I did 2 very heavy coats which would equal about 4 light coats.
4. My next step was to clear them. I did 2 coats of clear.
5. Now to get the smooth look you have to wet sand. I used 2000 grit sand paper with soapy water. Sand the whole light. Look for spots you may have messed up and had runs. This will be the last time you have a chance to try to make it look better. Sand the light till it is all smooth to touch with no gritty texture from the paint or clear.

6. Clean all the crap off the light left from the wet sanding with water and a clean paper towel.

7. Next is the final clear. Lay it on heavy as you can with out getting runs. This will give the lights a very nice finish like the paint on the car.
8. When done allow them to dry for 2-3 hours and then you can re install them. Wait 24 hours before waxing.
