When you arm the alarm system the headlights flash and horn chirps to confirm that it is locked, but short flashes are ont good for both the bulbs and ballasts of HID headlights, but there is a simple solution that doesnt require any wiring changes and can be done in less than five minutes.

    1. First, turn the ignition key to LOCK or OFF
    2. Remove the MALL PGM fuse found in the glove box
    3. Turn ignition key to accesory (counter clockwise) you will hear a couple of chimes if you have done everything correctly so far
    4. Press the LOCK key on your key fob, count the number of chimes you hear.
    5. Press the LOCK button on the key fob until you hear only one chime
    6. Turn key back to where you can remove it and replace the MALL PGM fuse

DONE! now you wont reduce the life of your HID headlights

So what will happen when you lock the car if you do this? I was thinking the same thing the other day and went looking in my manual to find a solution. I wanted it to just not flash the Lights. I still wanted the corner lights to flash and the horn to sound. I didn't find an option in the manual for this.

yes i realize this is in the manual as well but its kind of tough to find. There is not an option to have the parking lights flash and there isnt an option for just the horn either

interesting... my horn has never chirped, no matter how many times i hit the button. the lights flash and everything, once for unlock and twice for lock, but not the horn

i'm gonna have to do that. i'll probably set it to where the lights don't flash and the horn doesn't chirp. my HID's are weird though, the low beams are still halogens. i'm not sure if they go through the ballasts or not

You guys can just flip the high beams on before you get out of the car. That way when you lock it, you get the highbeams to flash and not your low beams. That is... if none of you guys have HID's that work for high beams. That's what I do, works perfectly. It's nice too because you flash your ballasts when you turn your key to on then crank the motor, the lights turn on and off and back on. So rather do em to your high beams then to your ballasts.

I know right? I only registered here on the forums for information... but I might start posting some.. when I begin to break more parts.

But yeah, thats disappointing... they should have wired the alarm to the amber marker/turn signal lamps like all the other people. >_<

Or you could just use your parking brake and they wont turn on until you let off the parking brake.

my parking brake overrides my DRLs and auto lights, but my headlights still flash when i lock my car.

and i know it's in the manual, i forget to look everytime i'm near it. i asked so i could be informed right away, and for others who may be curious or don't have manuals that would like to know as well.

If you want a digital copy of the 2002 manual just PM me.

I'm sure if you google'd it you'd find it as well.
