I made a vid a few days ago when I had my trans out showing how to do an HD diff swap. It's fairly simple to do inside the car. You'll just need to remove the wheels and axles, have an extention or two as well as a 13mm and 15mm handy

Good vid, however I should note that it isn't necessary to swap the output shaft, but I would recommend doing it. Some people say it's necessary but I never did on my Impala when I swapped and it was fine. Don't forget about the @$$hole bracket that bolts the tranny to the engine to prevent flex. Those bolts are tough in the car.

I've always left the output shaft with the diff trans simply because it makes the job easier. As far as the bracket. Totally forgot about that little b*stard haha.

Yeah, depends on how you do it. You don't have to de-construct the driver side at all if you pop the diff off the output shaft. Just have to slide a flat pry bar between the diff and the output shaft end and give it a good pop with a mallet and the diff just pops right off the output shaft.

Because it is.. If you'd like I can do a step by step with pics of it in the car. The thought of opening the transmission seems like a daunting task, but it's really not (atleast in this case it's not) All together it's 6 bolts, two tires, and two axles. Simple enough yes?
