    I have read on an other site that you can drill a 3-4 inch hole in your airbox and run tubing in the fender. Has anyone you no tried this? I think it sounds like a pretty good idea but value the opinion of others.

    just a question, why did you go with the 4"?

    i think i'm going to have to get a new piece of flashing, and do mine like urs, looks much cleaner than mine. i also bought my paint to paint my pvc.

    Doesn't painting PVC piping actually make it weaker? I'm sure if you use the header paint to keep heat out it does its job, but when I built my potato launcher it was highly recommended that we don't paint PVC due to the weakening of its structure.

    I'm guessing it probably wouldn't matter if its an intake rather that's not dealing with too high of PSI, instead of piping with high pressures of water or in my case combustion.

    did you just extend the wires for your AIT? or did you buy an extesion wire for it? I guess I'm asking can I just splice my AIT wires to extend them for a FWI?

    Is there any way to do this with the 4" without removing/cutting the brace in the fender? If not, whatd you use to cut it? I've had a hell of a time trying to get the back bolt to take it out and just cant seem to get anything that fits back there

    on my setup , i did not cut the inner fender brace cause i used a conical air filter which is about 4 inches high part number 8162 from Spectre , they sell it at Autozone and it fits just perfect . instead of the 4 inch tubing i used 3 inch . i know that 4 inch is bigger and has a better flow , but a 3 inch is smaller and consecuently faster air flow , my FWI intake roars very fukng loud

    Thanks for the post! Only problem is i checked this about 5 minutes too late, lol. Just got it all fitted in and finished! So im not sure how all you people with 9" cones have it fitted in as you did, but from your pictures i could not get mine in anything like yours! Luckily with a lot of cussing and trying to make everything fit in, Ive completed it, though it appears different from the pictures and i had to use the other half of the 90* angle down in the fender well.

    For a note to those who dont want to cut the brace, you dont have to. I just unscrewed the one inside bolt(the one closer to the engine, not the fender one) and pretty much just bent/forced it it out towards the fender. As another note, i tried removing it and im not sure if there is an easier way, but that back bolt was a b**** to get to. Then after i finally managed to get it off, i noticed the little triangular clip thing and couldnt figure how to remove that so gave up on that idea. I'm sure it's easy to remove just didnt feel like searching.

    Now that i've typed a essay here.... Good write up streetwolf, and good luck to those who try this in the future. Trying to use a smaller cone might be easier, though it doesnt look as bad ass, might save your breath on some cursing

    Hey i love this mod! I am going to try it out this weekend. A couple questions though;

    Where does everyone mount their PCMs?

    And also would i need to relocate my coolant bottle? (98 Grand Prix)

    Thanks!

    you didnt see my pcm right next to my coolant bottle , did you ? its right there in the pics. on the bottom of my pcm i used the sponges that came right out of the airbox to absorb impact or vibration and took a screw off my pcm cover and drilled it to my chassis again with the sponge in between pcm and chassis ..

    Mine sits there...and has never moved...I;ve never tied it down either...

    As for the coolant bottle...yes...you'll have to relocate it to the passenger strut tower like the '99+ Grand Prix's.
