Depending on the set up and tune, you can run a 3.25" pulley without any head work. I'm running stock heads on my GTP and with my current tune, I have 0* KR all the way through the top of second gear from all the scans I've done. Now, the same is not always true for everybody. The point is....TUNE!
hey when he said PCM- standard v 1.0 on the 3.4 pulley paragraph did he mean dhp or zzp or did he mean either one because he wasent trying to start a 4 page disscussion? i'm new and diddnt know if they were both v 1.0 or if just one of them was.just making sure before i buy the crap.
quick question on the PEM does it HAVE to be both or can you get away with just the front.
i know the front is the worse...but i will let someone else chime in also...
Obviously both would probably be best, but with as restrictive as the front manifolds are, they would be a good place to start.
I to would have to agree......The front is the big problem...back is minor....I have been thinking about going with a power log instead of headers (since its a daily driver and I am not looking to run 12's) but that is still up for debate.
webracin
yeah i would too go with the powerlog or just port the hell out of the stock header...i have seen it done before and it turned out pretty good.i have also heard of possible heat problems with the fan and aftermarket headers due to the heat sheild not being able to bo back on...but who knows maybe not....i also wouldnt want to cover up those 300 dollar ceramic coted headers with a heat sheild...![]()
I find it a little odd how the cat back system is saved for last. is there any reason for that? most people i know, the very fisrt thing they do to there car is a Cat back and a CAI
The reason is because the main restriction in the catback system is the cat, and the u-bend. Not the catback it's self.
And the next restriction is the stock mufflers. Most everyone including me hates the sound of aftermarket mufflers on these cars. Therfore they just leave the stock mufflers on.
And if your going to leave the stock mufflers on then there is no point in changing the catback out.
Another reason is we have plenty of people including my self that have been in the low 12's and 11's trapping 107 - 115's in the 1/4 on the stock catback.
Nice, it's good to see people looking out for others... So did you learn the hard way and blow you motor or did you get to know some good people early on in your mod phase?
The ONLY way you can determine if you can drop pullies is a scanner, period. Without that, your shooting in the dark and risking you're motor.
As for higher mileage GPs. As long as you check the vital components... compression, oil pressure, oil useage, etc. I'm running a very healthy 170,000 mile motor myself without any issues. Theres many with way more miles than me running way more extensive setups too...
im kinda new to all this and am looking to mod my 97 gtp. what does "kr" stand for?
some of you need to remember where us "new" gp owners are and where you were. Wouldn't it be great to learn from you experienced guys rather than waste money and defaming the GP image on worthless "Rustangs" as i have heard them called, and killed many times??? You have experience and knowledge, aka, a teacher, so please don't ridicule, but teach, share your knowledge so this model goes down in history more wanted and desired then that rice stuff...
