Hello, I bought this car a few days ago and drove it from New Mexico to Illinois.
When the car is started cold, there is no squealing sound.
After about 15 min of driving the sound starts coming from the moter.

I just started it cold in the driveway and let it run for an hour.

    - 0-15 min - No sound, running smooth
    - 15-30 min - Squealing on and off, sometimes stopped until I revved the motor up
    - 30-60 min - Squealing nonstop, constant. Would still make noise when revved.

    Any help would be appreciated!!

Video of it running can be seen here

take the belt off, see if the sound is then gone. if its gone, hand spin all the pulleys till you find one that dont spin freely.

Ok, so you think I should run the motor until the sound is constant, turn it off, and then take off the belt. Restart and see if sound is still there.

    Thanks!!

Oh, and I actually took it to Autozone the other day to have the check engine light scanned. It came up with 'P0171" Fuel Trim System Lean (Bank 1) and from what I am reading, that means the intake manifold gasket may be bad, could the noise be coming from a gap in the gasket?

thats a vacuum leak. you have a broken vac line. theres one off the fpr on the fuel rail, and two coming off the tb to the map sensor that like to break.

if you cant find the leak by looking at the lines, spray some carb cleaner at the lines, the idle will jump up when the leaking line is sprayed.

could be a messed up pcv valve too. once its making that noise open the oil fill cap on the valve cover see if it stops. if it does the pcv valve is clogged up.

A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection Faulty or stuck open PCV valve Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!) Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor

the only time ive heard a sound like that is when guys do a ic install and block off the pcv. most when they open the oil cap the sound stops, if you put your hand over the hole, you may feel it sucking on your hand. you get any of that its a bad pcv valve.

being you have a code set, thats likely the issue. hope so, its a cheap easy fix

Ok, I have an update! I started it up again and let it run for 20 min and waited for the sound to start again. I twisted the oil fill neck off and the sound did stop, and i then put it back on and the sound resumed. I did that about 5 times to make sure.

I went and bought a new PCV valve and installed it. The sound still comes back though. So do you think it has to be a broken vacuum line then?

under the pvc valve may be blocked up. if you shake the old pcv valve, does it rattle?

if one end is blocked off, id think the hole it lives in is also blocked up.

Yes the old valve does rattle, just like the new one i guess. The old one is covered in oil though. I don't see any buildup in the hole though.

Some YouTube videos are saying that there should be n 0-ring on the PCV valve itself but the one in the car didn't have one, and neither did the new one.

o ring is likely stuck in the bottom of the hole.

whole thing seems odd. cap off the sound stops is a definitely a pcv clogged up issue. weather its clogged up in the lim or upper intake is the question now.

sea foaming the engine might work. id pour some right in the hole the pcv valve lives in too. run it through the brake booster hose, then open up the pcv valve cap and pour some more in there after the engine is off waiting the 20 to 30 minutes to re fire it. as per the directions.

Scotty's right it's in the PCV. make sure to get an Oring and clean any of the goop out that you can. I had a friend that had a UIM replaced and they left out the PCV out and the seal around the balancer would be sucked against the balancer shaft and squeal. I removed to check for PCV and none was there so he bought a new PCV and Oring and I replaced it for him and it was fine after that.

The new one I bought did not have one either, but luckily my old one still had one and it was in good shape so I re-used it. So if you car is stock, yes, it should have one.

Is this what your cars' PCV valves look like?

Scotty, I will get an o-ring tomorrow and see if it fixes the noise, but as far as the sea-foaming goes the PCV hole is super clean.. but I will sea foam it if the o-ring doesn't fix it.

the idea is for the seafoam to go down the hole and eat what ever blockage is in the intake or lim.

im not n/a so my pcv dont look like that.

Ok I think we are getting really close!! I bought an o-ring at lunch and installed it, then ran it for about 25 min and shut it off. It didn't make a sound and I took off the vent cap and these was no negative pressure inside the engine. After I got home at 5, I ran it for 45 min and there was no more squealing!! Only thing now is that when I rev it up the rpms drop really low and then it dies for some reason. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it!!
