Hello. Over the last couple of months there has been a creaking noise that whenever I turn right at low speeds I could here it. Today I tried to inspect where the noise is coming from. With the wheel turned all the way right and moving it back and forth slightly my car (1999 Grand Prix GT) would make the creaking noise. I looked closer with someone else turning the wheel and it appears that the noise is coming from the top of the strut/coil. It seems that when the wheel is moved the coil spring moves with the wheels making creaking noises. Also, I tried to spray some lubricant up where the coil meets the top housing thing and it became quieter but did not disappear. By the way these struts were new just before I purchased the car which was slightly over two years ago. My questions is are coil springs supposed to move when the wheel is turned?

Yes, the coil springs sit on a strut mount, those are a bearing with grease.

Likely the grease is all gone and now it's noisey.

Is there anyway I can grease them to stop the noise?

    No, you can't.

They are a non servicable part, you'd have to remove the sturts from the car and either buy a new strut mount or just buy new struts that include the new mount.

If you wanted just the mount, you have to use a spring compressor to compress the coil and unbolt the old mount and bolt the new one on.
