I just swapped the old one with a new one, old one was rotted almost all the way threw. But wow for being such a easy job on all the other cars ive done it to this one was a pain in the ass. Took me close to 4 hours to do. The balancer just didn't want to come off at all. It actually bent the bolt to my puller. All I got to say is if you are going to do this for the first time on your own car set some time aside for it.

I'm completely rebuilding a 2000 gtp engine right now and I had the same problem. I found that the easiest thing to use is a 3 jaw puller. Auto stores will rent it out for free.

If this takes more than 15 minutes..you need new tools.

Seems like yours was the exception.

i had mine off 4 or 5 times over 4 days trying to fix a leak, its rather easy if you have a air gun to drive the puller bolt. all i kept thinking is this has to suck balls with only hand tools.

With hand tools..you lay the ratchet on the subframe and click the starter (icm disconnected).

Works every time! Done it in a few cars. You can't buy a torque wrench with that kind of torque. If only you could do it in reverse to tighten it
