Thread: I got codes P0455 and P0449

I replaced the gas cap and reset it and the codes came back. Looks like they have to do with evap system and I have no clue where to start looking. thanks

Sure P0449 Evap purge/vent solenoid circuit condition, the solenoids and system wiring are monitored for opens or shorts. P0455 Evap large leak detected.

you got a cracked line or the purge solenoid on the canister tank under the gas door is leaking.

I have had the exact same problem and codes for a while now, making my A/F ratio 15.6-16.2 at idle. Its annoying, kills gas mileage, makes the car smell like you dumped gas in the driveway when you start it up. I assume it is the line running from the purge valve to the motor but havent decided how to tackle it yet. Maybe smoke the line?

Have replaced both the purge valve and solenoid. Same problem, -21% Fuel trims. Yay.

smoke test is the way to go.

Just wanted to say it was the purge solenoid, I got one from rockauto for $20 and put it in and no more check engine light. thanks for your help.

Thank you for following up. Many times the fix ends up happening w/o any info back.
