    1998 Pontiac Grand Prix SE.

The rear windows stopped working a while back and the drivers side one has now fallen. It can be moved up of down by hand and will not stay up.

    Is the regulator shot?

Also, is there anywhere I can see a schematic for the electric window system for this model? It would help if I understood exactly how the electric windows open and how they are constructed.
I understand the regulator controls the windows, but just how does it do that. If I could clearly see how the system works, it would be easier to work on and seeing it in the car is difficult.

    Thanks.

Yep, bad regulator. It is a cable system, about the same as a bike brake cable. Just google grand prix window regulator and pics will come up. Don't over analyize it, lol.. 9 bolts and the assembly comes out of the door, motor and reg. This is of course assuming you have a 4 door. Just be careful removing the window switch bezel from the door panel as the top tab loves to break off. The release for it is at the bottom of the switch panel. Is a metal spring underneath that you press to release it.

    Thanks for the response.
I figured it was the regulator and too late about the warning on the switch bezel. already broke the tabs. LOL. And yeah, I do tend to over analyze things at times. LOL.
