As much of a bugbear as the front was, getting the dogbone bracket off (very fiddly two bolts on the LIM) and all, I'm stymied at a lack of shop manuals for getting the rear cover off of my L26! It looks as if the corner of the front accessory drive and the alternator both are in the way; is there a trick to getting around that without removing all that hardware?

On my L36, the alternator bracket had to be moved about a half inch, which on mine, meant breaking the plastic coolant elbows and replacing those as well. I know there were 4 different designs of alternator brackets, but being mine's an 02, I believe mine and yours is the last design. 3 bolts on that bracket, and it and the alternator can come out of the way, meaning the elbows need to be addressed.

I watched a YouTube video last night, where the rear cover was being done on an Impala; L36, but the same principle. Now... where's the best place to get the aluminium elbows, and can I even get them at a parts store, for that matter?

Most places carry both types. They're pretty common now, finally
