So I've decided I need a tranny cooler. It was always getting pretty hot in the summer and its especially since I've upgraded to the ZZP aluminum oversized radiator. The radiator is great for the engine but zzp even knows they messed up with the tranny cooler that's built into it. My temps right now after a long drive are pushing 230F.

So I want to get a tranny cooler, and I plan to go overkill on it. However I know if your trans is under like 80-100F its also not good. I was looking at this monster though:

They have one that's the same model that has a built in thermal bypass valve, which sounds great but based on the reviews people say it fails right away. However, since this thing is a 40,000 rated unit it might be a good idea for me to pick up one of these thermal bypass valves to run with it so the fluid can heat up to a certain temp before running through the cooler. I'm guessing there's a decent one out there somewhere I can buy to run with it.

I don't drive the car in the winter but I do drive it in the fall before snow and salt starts and it can get fairly cold still during those times so it may be worth picking up a valve.

I'm also thinking about getting this super big one because I cant mount it down low like a lot of people do because my IC heat exchanger pretty much dominates that space. I should be able to fit this above it though and it should catch some air from the front top grills but I'm not sure how much.

Is this a good plan? What else will I need to buy for fittings and tubing/piping?
