Looking around and finding a thread on here regarding OBDII adapters with Bluetooth for Android. Now I know those exist and I know that I can buy an old phone just for this purpose, but I don't want to and I'm not going to. Call me old and hard headed, but I like my Iphones just fine.

The only ones I see that are compatible with Iphone products seem to be wifi only. This isn't really a problem as I could care less as long as it works. So the question is who has one that works with their Iphone or Ipad and which one is it. I see a ton of reviews and it seems that half of them don't work. Since I have come to learn that about half the population is well on the left of the bell curve I don't know which is right.

Post up and let me know what your using and how you like it (Iphone of course).

    Thanks,

    Jeff

iPhone has their shyt so locked up, most don't work (BT adapters) or apps. Don't now of any that do. Can't even transfer files with BT to an i-device without practically hacking the damned things...

Anyways, I tried the ELM BT adapter with a variety of iPhones, iPad to no avail, its just as well because I'm an Android user and the 'i's' are my work devices. Torque app is hands down one of the best apps written on the Android platform. Buy an old used android and use it for a gauge pod... Lol

Android ftw! Torque is the best app! Get an android based device and see what you have been missing! Apple.is always a few years behind so maybe in a few years you can get what we have always had....that is how it.seems to work....anyway I have not b seem or heard of a good ios obd2 scanner. My apple friends "sheep" have tried but nothing comes close to the usability and function of torque.

I have basically all Apple products and I haven't found anything that works well and reads kr. I just use my old htc and torque app for monitoring.

Lol, I'm with the iPhone because I just happened to like it better. I don't even have my music on it.

So I'm looking at these devices and they are all blue. There's a black one and a white one and they are all about $10. Which one?

    Tim, thanks I ordered one.

    Crazy,

I think we are spoiled in this day and age. When I got into "modern" cars we had to use a laptop to tune our computers and if you wanted a cam for a V6 you had to send it in and have it reground.

On a side note the oldest iPhone i have is a 4S and some 3rd gen IPod touches.

I'm powering up an old android phone right now to see if it will even work.

And were damn glad to have it!
    😜

So now I have it what app is it that I use? I read the one I thought was Torque and the review said it wasn't and was a trick. I'm looking on Amazon on my work phone. It's some kind of LG they just gave me to replace the broken one.

Man this is so frustrating. I should have known better. I started reading about these issues they have with these generic code readers and it seems the Chinese can't even copy anything right. I find it funny that they have the audacity to put a sticker that reads (in Chinese) that the it is patented and copyrighted. I am not surprised and shouldn't be. Now who makes a reasonably priced code reader with the functions that these ELM 327's are supposed to have that work 100%. I am not interested in a gauge that has a readout as I would still like this to be portable to be used on multiple cars, obviously it wouldn't need to work with pre-OBD2 but it should work with a variety of cars from GM, Ford, Nissan, Acura and the like. I have several cars and would like it to work with all of them.

In the mean time I am going to look at the circuit and see if they screwed up something.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Is it connected to your device? I've never had issues with the 2 I own. Do you have another car you can see if it works in if it is connected?

That is another thing it seems to connect to the phone then it says that it's not connected and it cycles back and forth between being connected and not connected. I don't know if it's because it isn't connecting to the ECU or what. Also my Bluetooth symbol is always greyed out, I never see it "light up" like I do when connected to wireless or the signal bars.
