I've ordered parts to do another "mod" that i havent seen anyone do yet.

does anyone actually use the little cubby on the dash? (left side if you have HUD)

Since I do have HUD, my cubby on the left is just kinda hidden and not used. I theorize that i may use it more or find something esle to do with it if it were on the right side.

but i have the HUD switch there, you say.

Rubbish, I say! I have on order the mating plugs for the hud switch so that i can make an extension harness and move the hud switch to the left side. (I'm paranoid about cutting factory wiring, otherwise i would just cut and splice in wiring)

so, i'll have the cubby on the right side!

Toasty, I see you becoming another BackInBlack kinda guy here. All these neat and useful ideas and the willingness to move forward on them. This is awesome. Dont forget lots of pictures and written details so you can do a how to.

what are you going to use for the female end? the female end is attatched to the hud still so where do you get the female end from? Also where are you getting your plugs and stuff from?

it took me a little while to find, but most all of the connectors in our vehicles are delphi/packard connectors, most of which are not specialized. I looked up the male connector in the alldatadiy info i have for my GP. took the GM part number (which usually is the same p/n that delphi/packard uses) and hit up ebay to find the male end. Mouser Electronics had them, and had the link to the delphi information that includes the mating part and pins. (They even had line drawings, etc.) Mouser carried the male part of the connector, too. So, i ordered up a male end, female end, and enough terminals for both, plus a few extras. all told, the parts themselves were under $6 for everything, but after shipping should be about $11.

    -- the female plug is p/n 12064766
    -- the male plug is p/n 12064767
