My glove compartment trunk release hasn't worked in since I got the car and my key fob stopped working a while ago. I have been using a key to open the trunk but now that isn't working. The key will go in but will not turn. Any ideas?

    lube the lock up.

if that dont work you can take the back seat out, climb in the trunk and un bolt the lock hardware pop the trunk open, then change the lock tumbler.

the lock actuator is also changeable. once the trunk is open you can test for power when the button is pushed to pop the trunk. if the plug gets power the actuator is bad.

What year is car, I think 2000 and up have a trunk release lever, my 02 acted up so I had my kid climb in trunk through trunk access and he popped it open by pulling that lever. It's glow in the dark.

About 3 feet of extension and a 10mm socket through the seat pass through. The actuator is held to the lid with two 10mm bolts.

I lubed it up and got it open. It still felt like the key was gonna snap in half so I will replace the tumbler and actuator this week. Thanks guys

Seeing as you live in a cold climate check this video out from Larry. Go to about 10:30 regarding the locks.

You can pop the actuator off the lid real easy and turn the tumbler to see which piece it is. I'm betting a $20 actuator from the JY fixes you up.

Sounds good to me Bill. I just wrapped up the LIM/VC/Waterpump job today, so tomorrow I'll take a look at the trunk. I'm finally fixing up the car after a couple years of neglect so I can add it to the list lol.

BTW, you and Scotty always seem to help me out either directly or from reading past threads so thanks to the both of you! You guys have saved me a ton of $$$ and I've learned a ton as well just from reading the forums. Thanks again.
