Hey guys, looking for some help. I have a 2002 Grand Prix GT. it's currently Throwing code P1811 and I'm just looking for a way to fix it. Is this something that is going to kill my transmission? Ive noticed it happens between 3rd and 4th gear. Car seems to hold around 3000 rpms a little to long and eventually you will feel it shift to correct gear. I've checked Fluid and I'm good there.

I read on here someone sells a shift kit that fixes this issue. Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

That is what you want, you can find it on ebay for cheaper sometimes. Note that it might not fix it 100%, but it can surely help.

    Thanks, appreciate it.

So let me ask, is this something that eventually causes transmission failure? or is it just a just a little something that I can deal with? cause I notice after I get that shift into the correct gear, the car seems to drive fine and shift properly until I turn it off.

I drive mostly highway, 55 miles at a time.

If you put in the shift kit.. it'll take care of the issue to the point that it won't cause further problems in the trans. Essentially..it's masking the problem by shifting a little faster/firmer than stock.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

As mentioned, the shift kit is a "band-aid" solution. With that being said, my band-aid has been holding up for 4 years now (daily driving). I didn't do the trans cooler, and I do run warm in the summer (as highs as 208*), so I would recommend doing that too. Doing this will help the trans live a longer life as to high of line pressure is a trans killer.

Here is a good thread to read: http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...Shift-Solution
