I think my fuel pump might be going out. there has been a bunch of times the car didnt want to start as easy as normal, and earlier today the car wouldn't start until I gave it some gas. what kind of fuel pumps are people using? I have done ported heads, xp cam, ported sc housing, 42 lb injectors, northstar tb, and a full size phenolic intercooler.

rent/buy a pressure tester before you go buying a new pump.

43 or over @ idle or key to run.

next time you start the car turn the key to run for 5 seconds, then crank it. this way the pump gets to do a full prime before its cranking.

it could, but so could your tune.

ask your friend if hes got a long hose for it so you can pop it out the hood and see it while you drive.

it might be long enough, I could probably wedge it under the windshield wiper if the angle was viewable.

If it really is the pump going out, then you can find some good kits that will help you replace the pump with a better one.
I used one from high flow fuel. It wasn't a direct replacement, the outlet wasn't the same size as the stock one, just a little smaller. Now that I've got it sealed correctly it seems to be doing the job pretty well.

Racetronics has a very nice replacement pump but I believe it is the Venturi pump and requires the older 97-00 GTP fuel pump canister. They also make a high quality fuel pump "rewire" kit that is far superior to the ZZP kit. Getting full voltage to the pump can help too.
2001 black GTP coupe, Gen V, ZZP S2IC & billet fuel rails, XP cam, LS7 lifters, 105# springs, ZZP MPS w/3.4 pulley, Northstar tb, LQ4 maf, ZZP headers, K & N CAI, Meziere electric wp, Caspers fp retire, F body front brakes, GMPP strut braces, Don Rome strut brace mounts.

I would prefer something that is more plug and play. I have the zzp fuel pump rewire already.
