My car runs terrible and its ran rich since I bought it (when it runs lol). I decided to look at the plugs and this is what they look like. They smell like gas and there is oil up into the threads. I would like your feed back on how to remedy this also what the cause could be and how to lean it out.

I bought a scanner and ran some test 2 out of 3 failed but i dont know what the test is or what they mean Lol sorry im not very good at these things. Scanner states

    Test 4
    ID : 20
    MOD : $10
    MEAS : 8002
    MAX : 4D7
    MIN :----
    STS :FAIL

    Test 7
    ID : OC
    MOD : $10
    MEAS: FFD3
    MAX :0
    MIN :----
    STS :FAIL

Bunch of jiberish to me. Last but not least i Got a P0134 code this one mean my o2 sensor has died? If so what are your thoughts on a o2 emulator? I seen on zzp for 50 bucks I just dont know if its worth the money. As i learn this car ill have alot of questions i bought it as a project and i knew it was going to be a challenge. Thank you in advance

that code says no activity, so your fuse blew in the fuse box #21 iirc. or the o2 harness got melted. or both.

thanks for responding Scottydog. I checked the fuse its good. wires and connection are good. Under car they are behind heat shield in engine bay they are routed away from header down pipes and in a insulated heat shield. Are you able to decipher the scan tests? And or stinky lightly moist plugs?

the o2 code is causing the over fueling i bet. what they do when they dont work.

id double check them wires. wire loom can melt too. or the o2 is just flat out dead.

did you use a zzp type extension? or make your own?

If that scanner has live data, just view the o2 volts.

It's either stuck at .800mv or above or steady at 400-600mv, thus it's dead and not switching.

I pulled the insulated loom off and the wires are all good. Im not sure on the extenstion i bought the car as it is. I put head lights and tail lights in it and replaced a few things but thats its. There has been a bunch of things done to it perhaps quality of upgrades were poor. If i can get the car to run long enough ill check those numbers. I viewed some graphs when it was running I had no idea what they ment but they were jumping all over the place but the idle was pretty smooth. I thought the scanner would help me figure things out but it has a bunch of codes that are all greek to me. Thanks for your imput

buy a new ac delco o2 sensor then. rockauto sells them much cheaper then the local parts stores.

o2 should dance up and down fast on the scan. if its slow or not moving at all the o2 is bad.

mine for a 98 was like 40 bucks. they sell in that price range. you want bank one up stream o2.

bank 1 upstream o2 got it ty. Also i have no cat or down pipe. my headers go to a collector that my o2 bung is welded into then a flex pipe to the resonator. could the lack of a cat mess up the o2 sensor?

no cat only messes with the post cat o2 aka the one under the car just before the cat back.

    what year is your car?

they all have two. ones in the lower header. the other is right before the flange to the cat back. if you dont have one, its been tuned out already.

bank one up stream is what you need.

Yep just 1 o2 the front header runs over the trans down to the collector the backs run strait to the collector no bungs welded in anywhere no egr either. the egr is there and plugged in but the tubes are just open and the header is welded closed and the intake has a plug in it

ok, you've been tuned then. or you'd have codes for the rear o2 and egr.
