What would happen if instead of porting the triangle bigger,I compleatly took out the entire square?

I have never seen this done and i'm not sure why it would be a bad idea. Then again i'm not sure why it would be a good one either.

The way I look at it is they have been making this triangle design for ages. From carburated blowers to our's.And there has to be a reason for that. Whether it be to increase the turbulance of the air exiting or whatever (seems like in a boosted/pressurized system it would not matter).

Just tell me what you guys think. I understand that the gen 5 outflows a gen 3 but we port both. So there has to be a gain in doing so right? Could it be more if doing it this way?

Im no expert either, but my understanding is that the helix design of the rotors created an output flow that was better suited for a triangle. Take it for what its worth, but if that is true, then taking out the whole square would just destroy boost and flow.

if it is opened all the way up instead of the triangle, there will be no way to compress the air into the lower intake. you would make nearly no boost with that.

or are you talking about machining the h-bar out..?

Nope was not talking about the h-bar.

Just figured i'd ask. I knew they had to design it that way for a reason. I guess that's why ported blowers loose a little boost?

no, ported blowers lose a little boost because they are now more efficient and need a smaller pulley to make the same amount of boost. hasnt anyone ever told you that "boost" is bad? boost is a measure of restriction, not flow.

if i had a choice between a 600 hp n/a car and a 600 hp boosted car...id pick the n/a one. they run better, the powerband is better, etc.

Not to mention the parasitic loss of horsepower because of the blower.

However....600hp engine with a good turbo on 4-5 psi = WIN

i would leave the blower alone. how about a nice stage 3 intercooler and small pulley?

    Stage 2 is all they offer now,Which I have. I already have a 2.8 which would probably like a 2.6 on a gen 3.

I am def porting the blower.Without a doubt. The inlet is only 75mm. I'll need to open that up to 78mm to match my throttle body.Plus I plan on doing a little work on the outlet.
