move seat forward, theres two bolts in the back track under the plastic cover. remove them, then the front rails have hooks at the front. i like to lay the seat back back some, then lift the back up, then lift the front up to get the hooks out.

i just un hooked the battery when i changed mine. dont forget to unplug the seat, all plugs are under the seat.

once the seat is out of the way. pop the plastic trim at the door sill. the carpet loops over the inside edge with loop/hooks. take the foot cover off the lower dash pass side, the kick panel then un hook the carpet, then lift the carpet to the box you'll see under the rug. its bolted down with 2 10mm bolts iirc.

if your steering wheel radio controls took a dump it could be a bad clock spring in the column.

Clockspring is the first thing i'd suspect. Not the module itself.

take the fuse out first. I just set the airbag off on my grand prix by moving the sensor.

theres a place on line that rebuilds them.

first take it out, if you see white corrosion at the bolts or the edges of the box, clean that up and the car body, and re install it.

some you can open up and clean further. some you cant. its a 50/50 shot if cleaning it will work. but its free.

dont forget to clean the plug under the drivers seat, and the end of the clock spring under the dash. its also yellow. ( any plug you find thats yellow is for the air bags)

mine had a pin in the plug, and like a cover, its was a bit tricky to get open the first time. i wish i could remember more. keep at it.

id try to get one from the same year car, or at least write the part # and match em up if you can fine one a year newer or older in the yard. id bring a good sharp knife and just cut the carpet to get to it.

if you cant find a dirty or loose wire to a hub or a loose hub, aka jacked up pushing and puling the top of the tire if it has play it likely bad.

if you cant find any of these things its best to just pay to have it scanned at a shop, it beats tossing money at it with out knowing if it will work or not.

do hit a few shops and ask how much. i had shops that wanted 100, 80, 75, the last guy was 40, so i let him scan it.
