So I went to fire up the GTP yesterday and it wouldn't start, I turned the key 3 separate times and at the end of the third try there was a very loud backfire/explosion. I was dazed at this point it was like a scene from archer where he's saying mawp with ears ringing. I left it alone for the night because it was too dark and I was to dazed to want to mess with it. Today when I got around to checking it out I found nothing out of the ordinary under the hood so I turned the key to the on position, I heard the fuel system pressurize and I tapped the key to start and it fired right up. well at this time I instantly could tell the car was louder, I looked under the back at the muffler and this is what I saw

so I'm kind of at a loss as to what caused this. the back fire was so big it also cracked and broke both taillights.

ive done that in the past myself.

only we used to think it was cool to turn the engine off after flooring it, then turn the key back to run,,,,,and boom! it would pop and sound kinda cool. then one time it blew the muffler apart. bummer lol

needless to say at this point, you had a ton of un used fuel in the exhaust, it blew up when it fired up.

Yeah I guess trying to crank on it wasn't a good Idea, I just thought it was being difficult because it was really cold when this took place (about 36*). other then that it hadn't been started in over 36 hours as it's not my DD.

That is a neat look inside the stock mufflers, lol. Might want to check your resonator and cat.converter also to make sure they are ok.

im really surprised it blew it up like that, 2 times worth of injector priming should not do that. some how lots of fuel vapors got blown up.

Yeah I was mostly worried about the flex pipe on the speed daddy headers but it seems so far the only damage is the mufflers. Scotty I'm running a Reptile ECM so I'm not sure if he upped the amount fuel enough at start cycle or not.
