Hey guys. I am looking into making my own intake for my first mod. Its a 97 GTP. I have looked at the other threads on here so no need for redirecting me to those. I don't want to spend the $200-$300 on an intake so i decided to go this route. My first question is would it be better to use a 3 inch 45 degree bend PVC or aluminum pipe with the rubber coupler and clamps or to just put an open cone on the end of the MAF? My second question... does the size of the filter matter? (3 or 4 inch) Lastly, either route i choose to go i am going to need to relocate my coolant overflow bottle since i have a 97 right? Thanks i know this will spark a bunch of debate but i am really just trying to do the best thing for my car.

Also i found this intake kit on Ebay.. worth buying?

this is how a 45 deg elbow fits. a 60 put the filter more by the old air filter box.

the end of the street pipe is a 4 inch aka the fat side, the smaller side is 3 inches, so 3 inch rubber coupler with clamps, dril a hole for the ait sensor, and paint and clamp it all up.

this whole set up cost 35 bucks. all bought local.

ive got a 98 regal with the over flow tank on the driver side, you can see the cap on the far right of the pic. no need to move it.

This is CaptBreakAlot's Regal, it has an 22.5 bend. This is exactly how I'm doing mine when I start working. Don't think it will fit with that coolant bottle tho on ur setup.

That looks really good. I want to try to make mine look like that. The only reason i was looking at that ebay one is because it was cheap and the aluminum pipe already has a whole for the IAT

IAT is easy, drill hole. Put IAT in hole. Hell the Capt ran filter right off the TB with the IAT zip tied to something without problems untill he put the 22.5 on.

Sounds simple enough. What is the best size/kind of cone intake? K & N, Spectre, Weapon R, Apexi ?

Spectre ones seem popular, from autozone 40 bucks or so.

Has there been discussion about the difference in intake pipe sizing? Specifically the piece between the filter and TB. 3" and 4" are the most common but what about the differences between those sizes on na cars vs sc....? I thought I saw a discussion about it at some point but I forgot to bookmark it. I've been searching on the talkatap app for an hr now and no luck.
