Hi guys i just bought my 1st gtp I love it, pretty darn fast. I need help with the shifter tho. The car wont go into reverse or park even tho the shifter goes into those positions. It has gone into reverse be for and park as well. the person i bought the car from said he thought it was a shift position sensor under the stick. i couldnt find a part by that name so i just got a new assembly (not cheap) but its doing the same thing. I know reverse works it went into reverse on its own once. Thanks in advance to any tips you can share

You nailed it! The plastic sheath that goes from the shift cable to the shift lever on the transaxle is busted in 3 peices. Hope its not hard to find but ill blood hound it. Maybe i can rig up a coat hanger from the lever through the fire wall and manually shift it! lol jk my dad is a oaky and some rubbed off on me. thanks again for your help

junk yard is your best bet. pretty sure people have rigged the clip to get by. no way id do that manual shift with a hanger tho lol

it may even be the cable end split. seen a few guys here flat out needed a new cable. if its the cable those dont cost all that much new.

where the cable enters the fire wall is a plastic block/clip. you need to pinch it to free it, sometimes its easier from the inside of the car to release it. pliers are your friends here.

    It's quick, not fast lol.

It may smell rich but it likely doesnt have a cat converter and all you smell is the catless exhaust.

You'd also never be able to tell either even if it was tuned it wouldnt run rich all the time, but only for that 5-10 seconds you are heavy on the throttle. Otherwise it will try to command stoich (14.7 afr) for normal driving and idle.

Technically I believe you mean Bank 1 Sensor 2. We don't have a second Bank sensor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
