What if his roller lifter collapsed? I would check that out before pulling the head.
I have 4 LS7 lifters if you want them Joe if that is what it ends up being.

Got the head off woooo.
No damage to the piston wooo. They sure look ugly though.
I haven't got a chance to remove the valve because I forgot my spring compressor at home.
i also manage to break all the rear injector o-ring retainer things.
I'll post pictures when I get home.
soooooo you gonna miss the meet????

Here's the suspected bad valve. It has a burn mark on it.
Also I cleaned the new head surface with a wire wheel. Did i **** up?
You might be OK, but I don't know. I've never taken a wire wheel to a gasket mating surface.
I saw a guy on youtube do it for a head gasket change on a 3800
Since I cannot see any visual damage on the lifters and valve should I check any thing else
put that valve in a drill, and spin it. you'll know asap if its got a bend or not.
the lifter could be jacked up too. maybe worth changing it while its open.
Car is running like complete ****. I have several codes. I think I ****ed up the wiring harness because the trans is whining.
Oh and that miss is still there when I give it quick throttle.
p0118- High coolant temp ; i broke the temp sensor
p0560- System voltage > 16; It was like 18-20v wtf
p1115- coolant temp sensor.
p1635 "5V Reference (B or 2) Circuit" ?
I also noticed the PCM isnt telling me its misfiring, but im pretty sure it is.
It idles very high until it warms up .
Then it takes a lot of gas to get it to move from a stop.
Okay I fixed all the codes. Its because the coolant temp sensor was smashed leaving only the three prongs left.
I connected its wire on the harness to the three spring wrong.
Anyway it still misses. All that work for nothing.
