Ive literally never ever had any issues getting it out...

The tensioner was one of the first things that I had to do on my car... And it came off fairly easy.. Then I took it off again when we did my lim and again no issues. Plus I am pretty sure the cover doesnt break you end up snapping the elbow off first.
No, if you try to pry it off that's what causes it to break. That's why gm redesigned it. The technicians didn't know how to take them off and would pry on them. You will never break the timing cover by wiggling the bracket out. If you do, you did it wrong.

I was able to keep the bigger 140 amp bonnie alt with a gen v, James mentioned he runs that step often and .. if you find the right year firechicken, it'll have a 97/98 alt looking bracket with both elbows removable.
Wiggling the VC past is cake..
on the 99+ wiggling it past is really easy. I did it last week.
He's referring to the f body 99 bracket.
the later f-body brackets...late 98 and 99 is the one that is horizontal bolts for the old larger alternators as well as having both elbows replaceable... ie the elbow is not integral like the earlier W body front wheel drive bracket
curious if I need to remove the coolant spare reservoir to remove that bracket? hoping to install the rockers tomorrow
Yep,I believe so. Hell, I find it hard to remove the accessory belt with it on.lol.
