Hello all, I need some help. The other day i was rolling my driver window up and it made a snapping sound inside the door. The window would move slightly after that and i can move it up and down with my hands. I took the door panel off today and found that one of the cables that goes into the actuator has snapped off. This is an area where I have knowledge or expertise. How do I go about fixing this? Im sorry I don't have any pictures, I don't have smart phone or digital camera.

you want whats called a "window regulator". buy one with a motor. its a very easy install, few bolts and your done.

O ok, I looked them up and I see the motor and wires and everything is all together. So how do I get the glass out?

you get a new one with the new window regulator.

looks like this diagram, shows the bolts too.

o rielys link to the part. you need to search the right door, 4 door or two door. front or back. driver side pass side. theses are all 4 door http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1221&ppt=C0335

thats it then. its pretty easy. if the tree clips are shot when taking the door skin off the parts store has them, just take a old on in and match it up to the boxes on the wall.

And so then the glass just slides out of the clips on the old one and into the new one?

pretty much most cars the glass just lays in a track. last one i did was in a gm truck i used duct tape to hole the window up, aka closed, then swapped out the regulator and then lowered the glass back in place.

you'll see whats up when you take a good look at it.

I did mine (passenger side) about a month back. I have a 2 door also. Not too hard of a job. When you unhook the window switch from the door you'll want to plug it back in so you can raise or lower it to get at the bolts. My window stayed in place and didn't fall.

Remove door panel, peel back the plastic cover and remove 3 10mm bolts I believe. You don't have to remove the glass though.

Oh but be careful when pulling the door panel off. You might break some of those clips that hold it. Pull the panel carefully along the edges and give it a little yank when you get to those clips.

ive yet to do one on a w body myself, but they are all pretty much stupid easy to change.

the old school ones, 70's and 80's when the crank deal blew apart inside the door, yeah, those were fun to rebuild lol and if it was power it was the same but had a motor for a crank handle, same BS of a repair.

I changed one out on a stupid ford focus. It was my ex's. Instead of bolts that hold the window to the track, they used like some little nylon spacer looking things that were a pita to put back in because of the tight space and they had to be perfectly leveled to go in properly. I hate ford.

Cant be as bad as a firebird, they are RIVITED in. Good luck not destroying the inner door as its soft like cardboard or some fiber. Then try to not slip and break the glass. Then as you use the window with the new motor it just tears down into the door more and won't seal right then, you end up using lots of jb weld and washers and nyloc lock nuts. I feel bad for the next poor bastard to have to change it.
