I searched for this topic and couldn't seem to come up with a clear answer on it...

Haynes finally added the 2004-2007 GPs to the Regal/Lumina/Cutlass/'88 to '03 Grand Prix manual that has been out for years.
Same old GM FWD W-Body book

Now what I was curious about was if the older edition of that manual (without the '03 to '07 GP listed on the cover) would be the same thing? I found one at Half Price Books for $4 today.

If not, wouldn't the '95 to '05 Impala/Monte Carlo be a good Haynes manual to pick up? I was always under the impression the '04 to '07 GP could be thought of as a "4-Door Monte" and both the Impala and Monte use the 3800 engine. It just seems to me the electronic info from the first book with the '04-'07 GP listed might be out of date compared to the more modern '95 to '05 Impala book.

See it here: Impala/Monte Haynes book

i couldent find a book to save my life. i finally got the one with grand prix 88-07. its got most of the stuff if i need to know. even tho i havent looked threw it to much. but for now it works.

my buddy "said" he saw one that was 04-07 but when i went to that store they were out and said they dident even carry it. i had the hardest time finding for 04+, they dont keep it in there system or its under something else and no can find it.

idk. the 88-07 covers most things tho.

Dont waste your money on HAYNES, sack up and buy a helms or even a factory repair manual(s). I threw all my haynes out, sold my hard cover chiltons and bought the factory ones. If you plan on keeping your car Id invest in the real manuals.

300$ at the dealer tho. the haynes covers most things you need to know for the most part.

You need detail when it comes to using a book to describe R&R work.

I tried looking up a factory repair manual on ebay and could only find one in the $300-range, as well.

I found a used Haynes manual for my Topaz online for $3. Was hoping to find a used one around $10 or less for the GP. $300 is a lot of money to drop on a book right now in this current economy...

haynes leaves out major steps, its not only their new stuff its since they began publishing( my 1953 manuals printed in the mid 70's are just as vague as a 2008 printing for a honduh fit)

THe chiltons they sell in stores are an upgraded haynes but not a true full chiltons. You get what you pay for, I want my repairs done right and to spec so Ill spend the extra and insure that the job gets done right.

well take your pick. to me its not worth spending a couple hunderd dollars trying to figure out how to change out a LIM gasket. it tells you torque specs, acurate specs i might add and how to do it, in a simple form but i dont need step by step instrustions.

yes there not the best but it does get the job done and for 10 bucks, why not

I have an OLD Haynes manual originally for my old GP, but it does cover some 3800 Series 2 info. Not to mention it covers from 1988-1999 W-bodies although most of the pictures are for pregens. I've thought about buying the updated book but I really don't use it anyway. Its nice to have for Ohms testing and **** like that. I'd say its a good book for $10 or whatever it costs nowadays. Its no hardcore tech manual but anytime i've needed hardcore good info I have always been able to find it on the internet easily.

I'll admit, I do keep a good eye open for good used 1999 and 2000 GM Tech manuals for my cars. Although i'm not looking to spend a ton on it. Like I said, If I need it that bad, i'll use the internet or ask on one of the forums.

BTW, kingofnothing26, nice aviator, big three all the way...
