Recently came over from CLUBGP love the site!!

I am sitting at the Taco bell at night with the AC running... all of a sudden i hear the craziest noise out of the bottom right and the fan seems to be blowing on FULL Blast! I lose all control of the fan speed through the ac control dash. I can still control where the air flows and hot or cold but not fan speed. The real problem comes when i turn the CAR OFF!! The fan CONTINUES to run at FULL SPEED. Never turns off when i remove the key... i now have to crawl under the passenger side and unplug the fan connecting to the fan. As soon as i plug the cord back in, the fan turns back on without the key being in the ignition. Any body have any Help?

the fan resistor is most likely dead. only speed 5 works?

or the ignition (the key tumbler) is bad

Use your sub to alldata to lookup diagram then diagnose using electrical troubleshooting.

Or blame us for having never heard of this issue. Your choice.

Mine did this. It was the fan resistor. I pulled a fuse under the hood (battery 4 I think) to make it stop when I turned the car off until I got the replacement resistor.

I've seen BMW's do this because of the resistor. Didn't think GM would be dumb enough to use the same technology.

OK... I have a similar problem. Only speed 5 works. Where is the fan resistor and how do I replace it?

It's behind the blower motor. It's a little uncomfortable to do but not hard.

Twenty minute job. Drop the blower motor under the glove box and the resistor is in there. Mine looked like it was destroyed compared to the new one I replaced it with.

    Oh grand prixs.
