Not sure if this is a "General Tech Discussion" or "Audio, Security & Visual Electronic" so, I guess here first :-)
Every post I have read said only use 97 in 97. Seems that 97 has a low tire pressure light. Looking at all the instructions I don't see a difference in how to wire them, other than 97 has a wire for the low tire pressure light. If you don't care about the low tire pressure light.
I did find a wire diagram that had a pin (A4) labeled "Check Tire Pressure ('97 Only)" and pin (B10) "Fuel Level Input ('97 Only). Since most of the wires look like a signal (on/off) except for the DLC. Doe the DLC of a 97 vs 98 have different protocol/messages? Is the (A4) and (B10) connectors show stoppers? The 98 was a GT so I should not have the reverse Trac light issue.
It's not end of the world if the DIC will not work, I bought both HUD, Trim, and DIC for 40$ and as far as I understand the HUD should work on all models. If the DIC doesn't work then I can always peddle it. I ask some question in the "Audio, Security & visual Electronic" about what some part's are and if the HUD in 97/98 have a control like my 07 GXP that changes the position and brightness. If anyone see's this and knows the answer, would you mind posting it there for me. Thanks in advance.
I have another question, is there any write up that explains how to bench test both the HUD and DIC? I am assuming if you give it power, it should power up. Then toggle the lines to see different effects. My question is what is (On/Off). Is it ground or Plus? Is it protected with pull up/down resistors? Of course you will not have anything that depends on the DLC wire. But seems like everyone who got the DLC wrong the display showed 0.00.
