Do I just go buy one and slap it in? Or is there some kind of programming that's needed to be done? Apparently I just broke some kind of antenna thing on this

    Lmao fun

The parking lock cable (gray wire above) won't come out unless the key is in the "run position". Then flip it upside down in the middle you'll see a small tab that you compress and I'll let the lock cylinder come out. Then once that's out you can pop the clip in the first picture up.

Going to give you a helpful tip that I wish somebody would I told me.. Once you have the new ignition switch and put all the connection back on it you'll realize the the key will more then likely not release when the parking lock cable is connected but if you unhook the cable the key will release just fine.. Well if you look inside where the parking lock cable is inserted into. you'll notice there's a plastic tab that when you turn the key to the run or off position the tab prevents the key from coming out. What I did was take it apart and take a dremel and shave the tab down that way the key will release just fine with the parking lock cable inserted. Make sense?

I figured it out. I'm not 100% sure about what you mean by shaving the tab down. I'll have to investigate a little more.

Now my question is that I still have the tumbler which I removed. Can I keep that and just order the "starter switch/housing" and that alarm thing? I'm not really sure how this whole ignition thing works. To me if it has a chip would it not need to know if it's the right chip for the car? Or am I high and should just purchase what I said I should?

Lmao just purchase a ignition switch and you'll find out what I mean about the shaving down the tab. Try this in the old switch go ahead and insert the tumbler back in.. Connect the electrical wires that go with it then insert the parking lock cable.. Now try to remove the key.. It's stuck isn't it.

Want to hear a joke? I call up a salvage yard and ask how much it would be for an ignition switch.. they tell me that they "have to sell the ignition with the steering column". I told them that the ignition wasn't even connected to the steering column. She goes and asks her boss if this is true and the knob tells me that I am wrong and the ignition IS in fact in the steering column... I had to ask the boss what he drove because the last time I started my grand prix, that my key went into the ignition that was bolted into the dash.

Sadly enough those losers wanted 160 for a used ignition and I just paid 160 for a brand new one... ignorant people man...

Lol they're about $80 for the ignition switch and around 80 for the PK3 antenna. That's Canadian
