Seriously. It seems like every time I get a engine down to a 3.2 pulley setup I blow the block heater Oring out. Happened twice on my old engine until I siliconed the dang thing in and now im tuning in my new engine and the same thing happened. The rad cap is good so what the heck is going on? Am I cursed? Radiator is a almost new 1" core and the hoses are new as well. It never went above 190* (until it blew). It always happens on a long pull 0-120 or so.

You have pressure tested the cap? On high rpm ..that's when pressure would build.

And..you are the only one doing it.. because you are one of the few that have a block heater.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Around here they are popular I guess. Mine had one originally. My replacement engine has one. My brothers 3800 buick has one. Adeckers turbo prix has one. I tend to kill them. Cap must be ok because I ran it for a year on my last engine with no issues. Its a cap from the dealership.

Ive owned w bodies since high school and not a single time have my cars failed to start always outside. When its stupid cold at like -45 start the car at least once a day and let it run. Letting them sit for days is going to cause problems, none mine had autostart or block heaters. The biggest cure is the biggest battery you can fit with the highest cca!!

I usually have to plug my wifes damn envoy in and that things got an autostart too, that trucks a ***** in the winter compared to the 3800s

Imo for the op id just say fvck the block heater and put a regular plug back in.

They did come as part of the "Canadian Package" but were an option anyone could order.

I siliconed it back in like my last one. I dont really need it but its hard to pound a plug in at that angle. It is nice having heat as soon as I start my car though.
