Scottydogs, in your coolant flush method, all you do is remove the hose that goes to the tstat and put it in a bucket to drain etc etc? I dont even need to touch the lower rad hose?

take the t stat out, then put the housing back on. then leave the hose on the t stat housing, and take it off the rad. it will pump out the upper hose to a bucket or the ground.

Ok. Should I drain from the drain plug first at at all or not?

Edit: Seems pretty obvious that I need to...correct?

why bother? it will break most of the time. the water pump will pump all the old coolant out for you. and flush the clean water through.

Got tstat housing off now scraping off old gasket. Is it bad if parts of it fall into the tstat housing hole?

dont bother with that gasket till the lim is off the engine. if your just taking out the t stat at this point put the housing back on with the old gasket still there or nothing at all.

from the t stat area, due to no gasket? only place it should be leaking from during a flush.

dont use the new gasket till its the final time the t stat housing goes back on.

keep flushing till clear water comes out the upper hose lol.

then blow off the lim as best you can, use a leaf blower if need be. ( house vacuum on blow what ever you got to dry it up) then get to work tearing it apart.

make sure once its clear water out the upper hose you stop feeding the rad with new water, and run it till no more water comes out the upper hose. shut it off.

then pull the lower hose, pull them dog bones, rock the engine back and fourth and then start taking it apart.

I think I'm not gonna mess with the lower hose cuz I'm going to do an oil change afterwards regardless

taking the lower hose off the engine is so the block can drain, as well as the lim. you want to try as hard as you can at all times to avoid any coolant or water to get into the engine. even if your doing a oil change afterwards.

if your doing valve cover gaskets too, your taking the coil bracket off too, once thats off the hose clamp is easy to get to.

oh, i did put a normal hose clamp on that hose after i got it off the first time. its way easier to get a nut driver in there to open or close the clamp.
