Hey guys. I finally got all of the mods installed on my 00' Grand Prix GTP. Since the engine will be working a lot harder than if it was stock, is there any "special" or "extra" maintenance I should do to keep it running strong? Any advice would help out a lot. It's my first car and I want it to last as long as possible. Also, I bought it when it had about 112k miles on it and I'm not sure how the tranny fluid is doing. Is there anyway to check if it's good or not? I'm kind of a beginner with working on cars, so don't hesitate to give a lot of advice. Like I said, any advice at all would help out Thanks!

You can check the color of trans fluid by pulling the dipstick looking the color and smelling it to see if its burnt.

I'd do a pan drop and filter change for the transmission regardless, it's easy to do for some peace of mind. I'd stick with a Dexron III fluid since it's a 97-03 model year. Maybe even throw in a TransGo shift kit while you're in there to extend the life of the clutch packs.

Change your fuel filter as well, they're cheap and very simple to replace.

To see true trans fluid color, wipe the dipstick on a clean white paper towel. You may not see some of the stuff in the fluid by looking at the stick.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
