I bought a set of new hankook ventus v2 street tires for the Trans Am a few months back, they handle relatively good if I drive it normally but they also spin very easily if not careful. The thing is that I haven't driven the car that much in the past few months maybe 3000 miles max and I already went through half the tire's life on the rear. I was avoiding drag radials because I feared they would wear out too quick but given the current circumstances I'm thinking that the wear may not be that bad with the drag radials not to mention the additional grip.

I don't normally do burnouts, donuts or bring up the tires up in smoke and I only took the car to the track with the current tire set 4 times and did just a couple of passes on each occasion. What do you guys think would the drag radials last at least the same as the current set or still less?

chances are they are a very soft tire, soft tire means they wear faster. harder tire last longer but sucks in any thing other then dry conditions.

i bet if you did a nice little burn out, then did a launch right after they grip like mad.

back in the day a friend had a 70 roadrunner with Micky Thompson drag radials, they spun like butter, but after that first burn out they were nothing but grip. they also wore out rather fast under rather normal driving. very soft tire.

    ^^ Pretty much nailed it.

If you ever drive in rain, don't go DR. They are sketchy in the rain.

its just that with every turn of the tire, it wears off.

its a good tire to take out for drag night and such, put them on at home drive to the track. other then for racing there not so good for much else.
