Had a lot of work to the GTP over the past week. New struts, new radiator, hoses, tstat, alignment scheduled. Car was running great. I took it in for an oil change today at Car X and as soon as I left I noticed the Check Engine light was on. It has never been on before. Ran a code and it is the CPS. Could the shop have done something to eff this up? Now the car is only starting after every few tries.

CPS failure/malfunction is very common on our cars. I have replaced mine already.
I suppose they could have bumped/snagged the wiring. The CPS itself is not easy to get too, so they couldn't have hit that; I don't recall how exposed the wiring is for it.
Really tho, doubt the oil change guys did anything since this is a common issue for us.

    id say coincidence.

holly add a sig to your profile. so people know what your driving. being its a 96 and not a 3800. 99% of us will just just assume its a 3800.

crank sensor is still behind the balancer.

I agree with coincidence. The only thing close to it is the filter but te sensor is still behind the harmonic balancer. I know 3800 is easy to change as long as you have an impact and a puller. I had to take mine off cuz I dropped a razor blade in it. It only took about 25 mintues. A 3400 is probably about the same amount of work.

Thanks guys. Also, I have tried to add a sig and it will not upload. I am not a dummy, I have done sigs before, but I can't get it to work on here. I think I am going to hit up a salvage yard for the part. I have spent around a grand this week on the car. I didn't expect this. I thought it was the starter. So I bought a new one, I can take that back. I bought some gaskets too, I may keep those for the future.

if you want to use a pic you must shrink it in paint first. lines of text work just fine too. just general info of your car. if its not stated at the start of the post, most of us will look for the sig to tell us what car you own.

My customize page which would have the section to make a sig whether photo or words is just a blank screen. Check yours and see if it is a glitch on the site, because, I can't edit anything from my personalize page.
